You can delete your Unravel account and everything you have written at any time, from inside the app. It takes about ten seconds and needs no approval from us.
Your account and all of your content are removed straight away. There is no waiting period, and the deletion cannot be undone. If you have been signed in for a long time, the app may ask you to sign in once more before it will let you delete; sign in again and repeat the steps.
Email us and we will delete the account for you. So that nobody can delete an account that is not theirs, we act on a request only when it comes from the email address on the account, and we reply to that address to confirm before anything is deleted. Write to [email protected].
We reply to deletion requests within 30 days, and usually within a few days. We will never ask you for your password, and we do not action deletion requests made any other way.
Send your request from the same address you used to sign in, and it will match your account.
The one exception is Sign in with Apple when you chose Hide My Email. In that case the address on your Unravel account is an Apple relay address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com, not your real one, so an email sent from your own address will not match anything we hold.
You can find the relay address in the app under YOU → settings gear → Account, at the top of the list: tap it to copy it. Include it in your email and we can match your account straight away. If you cannot get into the app at all, write to us from your real address and say that you used Sign in with Apple with Hide My Email, and we will work it out with you before deleting anything.
Tapping get started creates a guest account with no email address and no password attached to it. That keeps you anonymous, but it also means there is nothing for us to match an email request against, and no way for you to sign back into that account from another device.
So while you still have the app installed, please delete from Settings using the steps above. That is the only route that can identify a guest account with certainty. The same Settings screen shows an account code at the top; tap it to copy it, and quote it in any email to us so we can find the right account. On its own the code is not proof that the account is yours, because anyone who saw your screen could read it, so we will not delete an account on the strength of a code alone.

Anything held in routine backups is cleared within 30 days of deletion. We may retain data for longer only where the law requires it.
You can delete any individual page from the app: open the page, then use the menu on it. Deleting a page also deletes the notes and hugs people left on it. To request deletion of specific data while keeping your account, email [email protected].
